Message:	It is time for some real numbers. As a legislator, you are claiming victory that the 2009-2010 state budget does not reduce per student spending levels in Volusia County from the 2008-2009 levels. What you don't seem to recognize is that Volusia's overall school budget was cut by $9.7 million for 2009-10 – even with the federal stimulus and stabilization dollars. In fact, Volusia's budget has been cut over $54 million since the budget adoption in September 2007. You have claimed that the state is allocating $6,873 per student (statewide average), an increase of only 0.41% more than this year. But the reality is, the $6,873 per student is artificially inflated by using $1.7 billion in federal funds to raise the per student allocation. The federal stabilizations funds are a temporary fix that will only be available for two years. That is the fact and the citizens of Volusia County want to know what you are going to do to save our schools when the federal funds have run out?
